There’s no two ways about it, 2021 has been a challenging year for a lot of businesses. Across countless industries, the recovery from the pandemic has been slow and difficult, and while many businesses have seen positive improvements over the last 12 months, it’s certainly not been easy. A lot of businesses will be looking at their sales, and trying to work out how best to evaluate their statistics from the past year, given how uncertain and tumultuous things are at the moment.
With this in mind, considering things are most certainly not back to normal yet, we thought we’d look back at a few of our key statistics from 2021 in a slightly different context: by turning them into an assortment of ‘fun facts’ by comparing them to everything from X to X. With that in mind, here’s how our 2021 looked…
Hoardings
It’s been brilliant to see construction bounce back after the challenge of 2020, and we’ve spent a lot of the year printing and installing hoarding graphics panels. Here are a few fun facts about what we printed in 2021, for context…
1027 8×4 panels
10-27 is the American police code for drivers’ license information… luckily all of our installers are road legal!
This equals 1253 metres in width
1253 metres is the exact height of Mount Bruce, in Western Australia.
201 1500mm wide panels
it would take you about forty seconds to count to 201 (speaking quickly is cheating!)
This equals 302 metres in width
which is about the same distance as walking across Tower Bridge, and then crossing a football pitch…
Taxi liveries
Taxis are a brilliant platform for outdoor advertising – in 2021, PressOn have been collaborating with taxi fleet managers Sherbet Media to produce all kinds of unusual and unique designs for businesses from tourist boards to gym brands. Over the course of the last 12 months PressOn have printed nearly 400 liveries…
384 taxi liveries
This is enough taxis for just over 19 Grand Prix races…
Grand totals
We print all kinds of different forms of media, with all kinds of materials, to all kinds of sizes. In 2021, we worked on everything from tension fabric banners to augmented reality windows, and by way of a couple of fun facts…
1561 total jobs
If we printed and installed an entire job every minute, it would have taken us over 24 hours of solid work to produce everything we created this year. (If only large format printing was that simple!)
70,000 square metres printed
Which is roughly the same as 275 tennis courts!
Waste reduction
Waste reduction and reducing environmental impact have been a big priority for PressOn in 2021. With COP26 taking place this year, and more emphasis than ever being placed on brands’ responsibility when it comes to climate impact, we’ve been taking proactive steps to reduce our carbon footprint. You can read a full breakdown of how we’re embracing low environmental impact printing here, but when it comes to 2021…
44.14kg diverted waste
Which is the same as over half a million bees (which are also vital for the planet!)
355kg recycled
which is about the same as 2 fully-grown male reindeer (in a few years we’ll have enough to pull a sleigh)
0g sent to landfill
that’s the same as… well, nothing!
Final thoughts
As with 2020, 2021 has been a bit bizarre. The Covid 19 pandemic is still having an awful impact on lives and businesses, but it’s been inspiring to see so many people and brands rallying over the last 12 months, and returning to something closer to normality in the UK. We might not be quite there yet, but looking back over the last year in the context listed above puts things in a bit of perspective at least!
Here’s to a bright 2022 – Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year from all of us at PressOn.
